Fraud, Asset Recovery & Enforcement

One of Nigeria’s most experienced teams to investigate, trace and recover assets across borders — with forensic precision and trial-lawyer tenacity.

Overview

When fraud strikes, speed and strategy are everything. At Stren & Blan Partners, our Fraud, Asset Recovery and Enforcement practice deploys one of Nigeria’s most experienced teams to investigate, trace, and recover assets across borders, with the precision of a forensic investigator and the aggression of a trial lawyer.

We act for banks, corporates, institutional creditors, and government bodies facing complex fraud, financial crime, and enforcement challenges, pursuing civil and criminal proceedings simultaneously because the most effective asset recovery strategy leaves no avenue unexplored.

We lead and coordinate multi-jurisdictional fraud investigations, combining intelligence-gathering, court-ordered disclosure tools, and enforcement action into a single coherent strategy. Our team secures freezing injunctions, Mareva orders, and third-party debt orders with the urgency that such matters demand. Where assets have crossed borders, we work with a network of trusted associates across countries to trace and recover them in accordance with applicable foreign law and international enforcement frameworks. We are equally at home with various law enforcement agencies, including the Police, Interpol, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Where criminal enforcement strengthens a civil recovery strategy, we pursue both tracks concurrently.

Our team has led recovery efforts in high-value cross-border fraud matters, coordinated parallel civil and criminal proceedings in multi-jurisdictional asset recovery cases, and represented creditors in contentious proceedings involving fraud. We have experience engaging foreign regulatory and enforcement bodies as part of an integrated recovery strategy, and we typically act for foreign victims of scams and fraud in Nigeria. Nigeria’s financial crime landscape is complex, politically textured, and increasingly cross-border. Recovering assets requires more than legal knowledge. It requires relationships, intelligence, and the willingness to move fast and think across jurisdictions. Our practice is built for exactly that.

We don’t just advise on recovery. We recover.
